"Many major modifications have been made to make this version a significant improvement over the 5.x series and a recommended update for users on all platforms," the development team noted of KiCad 6.0.0, which was released on Christmas Day as a gift to anybody who designs electrical products. "Hundreds of new features and enhancements have been added, as well as hundreds of issues repaired."
So KiCad version 6.0.0 should now be readily available for most of you out there now. Release notes:https://t.co/V3HB8rZeai 🎄🥳

The modern appearance and consistent.
KiCad 6.0 has a redesigned user interface that is intended to make it easier for new users to get started with KiCad and to eliminate friction when transitioning between KiCad and other design applications. The visual design language, hotkeys, dialogue layouts, and editing procedures have all been unified throughout KiCad, so moving between the schematic and PCB editors no longer feels like switching between two separate tools.
Experience with PCB design has improved.
KiCad's PCB editor has been completely redesigned, with numerous new features to assist you in navigating complex designs. Custom view presets can be saved and restored. Keep some nets hidden from the ratsnest. Zones, pads, vias, and tracks all have their own opacity controls. Colors should be assigned to certain nets and net types, and those colours should be applied to the ratsnest or all copper related to that net. Control what sorts of items can be chosen with the new Selection Filter panel in the editor's bottom right corner.
It's impossible to capture all of the new and enhanced features in one location, given the hundreds of changes made between KiCad 5 to KiCad 6. The following is a brief list of KiCad 6's new features. Hundreds of bug fixes and speed improvements have been made by dozens of volunteers in addition to these new features.
Version 6.0.0 is built from the source code in the GitLab 6.0 branch
