Since its release in 2019, Debian 'buster' has formed the base of Raspberry Pi OS, while Debian 'bullseye' was published in August. (As some of you may know, Debian names their distributions after Toy Story characters - Bullseye was Woody's horse in Toy Story 2.)
New Version of Raspberry Pi OS Debian "Bullseye" |
The majority of the changes in Debian 'bullseye' are patches and upgrades to current apps and features. There are some under-the-hood changes to file systems and printers, but most of the changes are fixes and upgrades to existing applications and features. However, in addition to the Debian improvements, the 'bullseye' version of Raspberry Pi OS includes several important changes to the desktop experience and support for Raspberry Pi hardware.
